... and the life and times of Derek Zoolander, the greatest male model of all time
“What is this? A centre for ants? How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read... if they can't even fit inside the building?”
Hi
Derek Zoolander is the greatest male model of all time.
Yeah, I said what I said.
But how did Derek’s star ascend so high and so fast? How did he break into male modelling? And what has Austin Powers, that groovy swinging spy from the ‘60s, got to do with it?
“I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot.”
That damn Hansel, he’s so hot right now. And he’s hot on the heels of Derek’s fourth win of VH1 Male Model of the Year, filmed at the real VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, during 2000 Autumn Fashion Season in New York, with a host of celebrities agreeing to cameo, mostly because of their admiration for Derek and his illustrious career.
Zoolander, the story of Derek’s life (and how he saved the world with Magnum!), released in September 2001. And nothing bad happened in September 2001... right?
And finally…
“I've done far worse than kill you. I've hurt you. And I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her: marooned for all eternity in the centre of a dead planet. Buried alive... buried alive...”

"I finished the episode! OMG Em! You are so talented and engaging. Fascinating throughout. It’s so imformation rich and told in such a personable way. Plus it sounds like you really really love what you’re doing and that comes across, and is so important I feel.”
